"Ian's soulful vocals, authentic phrasing and effective harp playing are the first thing that impress about this act. But on closer listening we discover the tight (rhythmically and sonically) playing of James. His style is a lesson in economy of playing and his use of vibrato, which could be a distraction in the hands of a lesser guitarist, brings us memories of those old Excello recordings of the 1950's. Anthony offers a wonderful free time to the groove, and his use of the 'djembe' brings a marvelously different perspective to the groove. Rather than anchor the band, his percussion-like playing, rather than strict drumming allows for some excellent interplay......."
In all they are a trio playing more than blues. It is pure soul and for the uninitiated it is a smooth and easy listening transition from the mayhem of the everyday.
